Mom Arrested After Toddler Found with Dot Tattoo

Can mothers tattoo their child? The question is being raised after a parent was arrested for allegedly giving her toddler a tattoo.

Should mothers be permitted to tattoo their toddlers, even if it's a simple mark?

That is a question that is being raised after a 27-year-old mother was arrested last Monday for allegedly giving her 22-month-old child a black dot tattoo.

How Was a Toddler Given a Tattoo?

As reported by Fox News, investigators reached out to the Department for Community-Based Services to look into the "deplorable" conditions inside the home of Brook McDaniel. This was after they received a child abuse complaint.

The black dot tattoo was discovered on the toddler's during the visit. There was also some visible redness in the area. Witnesses told the investigators that the mother allegedly tattooed the child while inking herself.

McDaniel admitted to giving her child the tattoo when investigators asked. She said she was tattooing her own leg. According to the citation, her child then allegedly "walked up to her and stuck his arm in the way of her tattoo gun."

Known as a "party dot," McDaniel stated that her child "wanted the tattoo."

What Happens Now?

After the investigation, McDaniel was arrested by Kentucky State Police and taken to Adair County Regional Jail. She was charged with fourth-degree assault - child abuse.

This story is one of many describing the abuse that many children suffer at the hands of their parents. For example, last year in Darlington, UK, 50-year-old father Simon Vickers faced murder and manslaughter charges for the death of his 14-year-old daughter, Scarlett.

The father alleged that he was "mucking about" and having "harmless fun" during a playfight where the pair threw items at each other.

Simon claimed he believed he was throwing a pair of tongs at his daughter. He accidentally threw a knife, causing a 4-inch chest wound. This caused Scarlett to bleed to death.

Vickers denies the murder and manslaughter charges, although he accepts responsibility for Scarlett's death as a "freak accident."
