According to the
Aurora and Marionville Police Department, Taylor Santiago arrived at the Aurora Police and Fire Facility at around 1:45 a.m. on January 23. There, she confessed to murdering Troy Huffman at her residence. An affidavit obtained by PEOPLE gave some disturbing details about Santiago's confessed murder of Huffman.Allegedly, Santiago invited Hoffman to her house under the excuse of seeing a 12-year-old child. Santiago then told said 12-year-old to cover his ears since she was going to "take care of the bad guys." She then entered another room in the residence and allegedly shot Huffman twice. Santiago then took Huffman's car keys and drove toward Carrol County, Arkansas, per the affidavit.
Hoffman then confessed to killing two other people in Carroll County. The local sheriff's office released a January 22 press release that reported a shooting. Said shooting caused the death of a woman and a man to become injured, reportedly the father of one of Santiago's children. An uninjured child was present at the time, reportedly Santiago's daughter. The father was transported to a local hospital and is in critical condition.
The same press release then stated that a suspect was arrested in Missouri, coinciding with Santiago's arrival at the Aurora Police and Fire Facility.
Arrested And Charged
Aurora Police Chief Wes Coatney spoke with KYTV, stating that the motive behind Santiago's alleged murders was due to custody issues between her and the two males. However, it is not clear why Taylor Santiago decided to turn herself in.
"I don't know the answer to that," Coatney told the outlet. "I'm glad she did (turn herself in). I wish she would've come to us before she did all of this so we could've helped her."
Authorities charged Taylor Santiago with first-degree murder, robbery, unlawful use of a weapon, and endangering the welfare of a child for the Missouri case, according to PEOPLE. She is currently being held at the Lawrence County Jail and was denied bond.
