Woman With Dementia Goes Missing
Cheryl Leigh Guajardo, a 76-year-old woman with dementia, was believed to have last been seen on December 3. Afterward, she went missing and no one had heard from her. She was suspected to have last been seen in the Lowell area. So, when an investigation into the missing woman with dementia happened the following day, authorities knew where to begin searching.
Surviving in the wilderness of Oregon is hard enough. Now add an advanced age and dementia to the list, it gets even tougher. Local police and several volunteers were very anxious to find Cheryl. While they initially planned on tracking her cell phone to find her location, the remote area put all hopes of that to an end. The poor cell service would not allow them to track anything.
Police became fearful that she may have left the area that she was last seen. Therefore they issued a statewide Silver Alert, according to PEOPLE Magazine.
Missing Woman With Dementia Miraculously Survived For Days

Finally, three days after beginning the investigation, on December 7th, searches discovered the missing woman's vehicle. PEOPLE shared that it was "on an overgrown spur road north of Lookout Point Lake [ in Lake County]." Shortly after finding her vehicle, the team found Cheryl Leigh Guajardo.
Not only did they find her, but she was alive and well. She had somehow managed to survive for four days in the unforgiving wilderness of Oregon. While she looked well, she was still taken to a hospital by an ambulance for further checks. No further updates have been given at this time.
However the Lane County Sheriff's Office did take the time to thank the many individuals who volunteered to help search for and find Cheryl.
