Missing Woman Rescued by ATV Drivers After Being Stuck in Quicksand for Three Days

The ATV drivers found the woman almost fully submerged in quicksand. She gurgled, "Help me," and they got to work pulling her out of there.

A pair of ATV drivers managed to save a woman who was almost entirely sucked in by quicksand mud. They were not looking for her—instead, the friends were just looking to have some fun on their ATV.

According to the New York Post, Adam Sandbeck and Mike Gravalin were just going on one of their usual treks through remote Minnesota forest trails on Saturday, June 6. For them, it's the usual calming Saturday routine, just traveling around nature.

But they decided to "find some new trails" instead after they mixed up the dates for another event. And that's when they made the absolutely insane discovery.

They were just running out of gas when they came across a shortcut path. "Never be annoyed at your situation, because everything happens for a reason," Sandbeck explained.

And they found a stranded minivan. Very creepy stuff in the middle of the forest, right? That was Gravalin's first thought. As a retired U.S. Deputy Marshal, his first thought was that there was an ambush in the midst.

But when they saw a body in the puddle, they realized it was much, much worse. Sandbeck recalled, "I just remember saying to myself, 'Oh my God, please don't be a dead person.' She was completely submerged."

And it was a good thing they got there on their ATV when they did. "The water was almost coming over her mouth," he said. She managed to gurgle out, "Help me," which they obliged in doing.

The Woman Had Been Submerged Days Earlier

When the woman came back, she explained that she'd been in the quicksand-like mud for several days. She had to sit there and endure the water rising up and the sun burning her severely.

The pair were absolutely enamored by her sheer force of will. "I mean, this has got to be one of the strongest women there is ... You think about her just watching the sunset, the sun up and burning every day in the sun, and she still had the will to live."

And, by Sunday, June 7, the woman was reunited with her friends and family. We're glad nothing worse happened.
