On July 5th, Dakota Crouch dropped his daughter off at her mother's house on South Padre Island. But, when he was supposed to get her back two days later, there was no sign of the two of them.
Since then, Crouch has been searching for his missing daughter. Allegedly, Dakota and Lillian, the toddler's mother, had been in a custodial battle at the time of her disappearance.
The South Padre Islands communities held rallies, searching for the missing daughter of Crouch. Months after her disappearance, Dakota released a desperate message. "Wherever you are, Rilee, know that I'm fighting for you. I love you, and I'm not ever going to give up on you. I'm still here, and I'll see you soon."
Dakota said he feared that the girl's mother had taken her to Mexico. She had dual citizenship and would have been able to find residency there. However, it turns out she was significantly further than that, with onward plans.
Missing Daughter On The Way To Turkey
Crouch discovered that his missing daughter was actually in Panama City. She had been taken there by her mother, with plans to flee to Turkey. Consequently, she was found and detained by US marshalls at the airport. Her plan had been thwarted by the young girl's paternal grandmother. According to reports, she had called the toddler's father to warn him.
The mother had made a desperate attempt to take the missing daughter as far from Dakota Crouch as possible and had chosen Turkey as her destination. However, the police, alerted to the situation, had recognized her. So, the US marshalls arrested her and have her held her on interference with child custody.
The five-month search Crouch had dealt with is over, and now he's reunited with his missing daughter. Finally, the four-year-old is being reunited with her father. She has been brought back to Rio Grande Valley and will be in safe hands from now on. However, what will happen to the mother is still up to the police.
