Two French bulldogs that went missing on February 13 were found dead inside two separate crab pots in Alaska. The discovery came during a routine inspection carried out at Thorne Bay Harbor. The owner, Kane Martin, believes that both 1-year-old bulldogs were abducted and killed in a personal "vendetta" against him.

According to the State Troopers division of the Alaska Department of Public Safety, the dogs's remains were located inside two different crab pots near Thorne Bay Harbor on March 14. They were found as a result of "routine shellfish pot inspections," which tragically concluded the month-old search for the dogs.
The dogs, Yoda and Whiskey, were described as the "sweetest dogs" by their owner, Esther Martin, as per KTUU. She said that her husband Kane and her brother-in-law Shane brought the dogs to an active login unit at Thorne Bay. After taking a break on February 13, the dogs were nowhere to be found.
"The dogs have gone to work with them every single day since we got them back in June. So it was very uncommon of them to disappear the way they did," Esther said. "We were immediately suspicious but had hoped that they would return on their own, and it just took longer and longer."
During the search, Esther's brother-in-law looked for them incessantly. "We left items of clothing, we left their dog beds, we left food," Esther added. "We rode around on the quad for days just searching every road, every muskeg, every trail and they were just gone
Abducted?
Kane Martin, after his dogs were found dead inside the crab pots, told KTOO that he believed that Yoda and Whiskey were abducted.
"They were great little dogs, I mean, just lovable as hell. I'm sure that's why they just jumped in somebody's rig with them," Kane told the outlet. Esther told KTUU that the dogs disappearing was "very uncommon." According to her, they have been accompanying Kane and Shane every day since June 2024.
Kane would then say that state troopers believed that the incident seemed like "something personal."
"I mean, there's only one person on this island that has any kind of vendetta against me at all and it's not even that much that I know of. I mean, I've lived here my whole life," Kane added. He didn't specify who he was referring to.
The case is currently being investigated by state troopers. The Martins are also offering a $2,500 reward for any information in connection with the bulldogs' deaths.
