Former Miss Universe Jamaica finalist and beauty queen LaToya Malcolm has died at just 35 years old. As reported by People, the organization announced her tragic passing on social media on Saturday, July 18.
The post reads, "In loving Memory of LaToya Malcolm. We are deeply saddened by the passing of Miss Universe Jamaica alumna LaToya Malcolm, who proudly competed in the 2024 Miss Universe Jamaica Competition."
"Our heartfelt condolences are with her family, friends, and loves ones. Rest peacefully, LaToya. You will never be forgotten."
As well as competing and reaching the final in 2024's Miss Universe Jamaica, she was also the winner of 2024's Miss Jamaica Bikini International.
In a newspaper clipping from the Jamaica Observer, Malcolm explained that her death of her father was difficult. However, she had managed to power through it to take home the coveted crown. The outlet also explained that Malcolm was a dance instructor.
When she won, she posted on social media: "My beloved father, Mr. Malcolm, this win was your you. Your one and only daughter continues to make you proud. I know you're smiling down on me from heaven."

Tributes have poured in from fans and co-contenders alike.
The current Miss Universe Jamaica, Gabrielle Henry, wrote a touching tribute to the beauty queen.
"After many years of experiencing loss and hardship, I've learnt the deep relevance of pausing and reflecting on the lives of those who lived fully, unapologetically and with great passion," she wrote.
"To hear of LaToya's passing is a great loss to her family and the wider community, Jamaica, her impact will always be remembered and her voice will not be forgotten. Wishing her family my deepest condolences. May she rest in peace."
"When I met and worked with her in 2024, she was such a breath of fresh air," one commenter wrote. "Even though she was grieving her dad's passing at the time, she pushed through the Miss Universe competition. Rest In Sweet Peace Latty."
Another commenter said that Malcolm was "so full of light" and "always joyful." "I'm still struggling to comprehend how this could even be possible," they lamented. "My condolences to her family and friends."
