The Florida Highway Patrol confirmed that an 18-year-old woman died in a crash while driving her sedan in Santa Rosa County, per WKRG. The outlet has since identified the victim as Kadance Fredericksen, a Miss Teen USA pageant queen. Fredericksen's car reportedly collided with a tractor with a trailer driven by a 56-year-old Milton man. According to the crash report, the man suffered minor injuries from the collision.

News outlet People explains that the cause of the crash is still under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol. Police have not arrested anyone in connection with the incident.

Fredericksen Created a Charity Initiative For Children In Need

Per a report by the Daily Mail, Fredericksen created 'Kada's Promise' in 2017. It's a charity initiative providing blankets and teddy bears to children in foster care, abuse shelters, and hospitals. Kada's Promise does have a

Facebook profile, although it's locked at the time of writing. Fredericksen told Wear News in 2019 that she experienced homelessness and abuse when she was younger. Her father and adoptive mother rescued her.

"During many dark times in my early childhood, the only thing that I could call my own or that made me feel safe was a single teddy bear that I received as a gift. I carried him with me from house to house, couch to couch, and clutched him tightly in the scariest times. It is from these memories that Kada's Promise was born."

Fredericksen previously won Miss Okaloosa County Teen USA. She also competed in multiple beauty pageants at different levels.

Baker School posted about Fredericksen's passing on social media, describing her as a beacon of light in our community. The school explains that Kada's Promise has distributed over 12,000 teddy bears and blankets to children in need.

Per WKRG, a candlelit vigil is being held at the Baker School football stadium on Wednesday at 7 pm. Attendees are asked to bring a teddy bear in honor of Kadance. The school is at 1369 14th St. in Baker, Florida.
