Miranda Lambert's MuttNation nonprofit foundation has raised over two million dollars for animals in need, spreading love and smiles to pets and humans alike.
Last week, the organization held its 8th Annual Cause for the Paws: Back to Basics charity event in Luckenbach, Texas. There, Lambert put on a special show in which she shared the spotlight with a couple young fans.
According to People, Lambert took the stage for an intimate acoustic set, which included her recent hit, "Mama's Broken Heart". Songwriters Jessi Alexander and Radney Foster, and The Voice's Gwen Sebastian also performed during the fundraising event.
"Nothing makes Miranda and [me] more happy and fulfilled than seeing a rescue dog in the arms of a loving family," said Bev Lambert, Miranda's mother and co-founder of MuttNation.
Last year, the organization opened Redemption Ranch, a 5-acre sanctuary in Oklahoma which houses needy animals. A specially designed vehicle meant to transport large groups of animals during an emergency called "The Rig" was debuted during the event. MuttNation told the San Antonio Express-News that its first job will be to move 20 dogs from Houston-area shelters to Redemption Ranch.
