Miranda Lambert Reacts to Fan Defending Her Amid Selfie Drama: 'Shoot Tequila, Not Selfies'

Lambert enjoyed a laugh over a fan's T-shirt.

Miranda Lambert found herself in hot water last week when a video of her stopping her Las Vegas show to call out fans for taking pictures of themselves made the rounds on social media. Fans were split on the issue, and the subject even made its way into fiery debates on shows like The View, among others. The moment has caused widespread backlash for the singer, but during her final weekend of shows on her Las Vegas residency, she seemed to shake off the controversy.

In a video originally captured by Instagram user @mmorris785, Lambert spots a fan in the crowd with a t-shirt that read, "Shoot tequila, not selfies." Lambert couldn't help but point out the humorous show of support from the fan, and she even grabbed a mini bottle of tequila from the fan.

"Her shirt says, 'Shoot tequila, not selfies,'" Lambert said, with an amused look.

The singer then leaned down to take the bottle of tequila from the fan. After taking a big swig of her own, she shared it with a band member. Ironically, the display screen behind the singer showed a neon sign flashing the word "tequila" during the interaction.

The tequila-shooting moment with a fan is the first reference Lambert has made to the now-infamous incident which occurred at her Velvet Rodeo residency on Saturday, July 15. In multiple videos, Lambert is seen stopping her show midway through her performance of her song "Tin Man" to point out a group of women taking photos near the stage.

"These girls are worried about their selfie and not listening to the song, and it's pissing me off a little bit," she said at the time. "We're here to hear some country music tonight, and I'm singing some country damn music!"

Adela Calin, one of the women in the group, has since spoken out about the moment. She shared with Wide Open Country exclusively that she felt "embarrassed" and like she was "back in school and the teacher told me to sit down." Despite this, Calin says she will still listen to Lambert's music. Attending another concert, however, isn't in the cards for the Vegas-based social media influencer.
