Man Dismembered Women And Put Their Bodies In Storage Units
This is so horrific it sounds like an episode of CSI. Alas, it is all too real. Joseph Steven Jorgensen pleaded guilty to both accounts of intentional second-degree murder. The first murder was his previous girlfriend, Fanta Xayavong.
The NY Post reveals that that "investigators found her remains in a storage locker in Coon Rapids." Later, it was uncovered that Jorgensen had had a relationship with Ms. Xayavong. The irony of the situation is that law enforcement found her body while searching for another woman.
In 2023, authorities began looking into a missing persons case for Manijeh Starren. Starren's father filed the report after she failed to check-in with him. He admitted that she struggled with mental health issues and addiction. Therefore, when she did not do her daily check-in he grew suspicious.
After checking surveillance footage, social media, financial accounts, and her apartment, all signs pointed to Jorgensen as the main suspect. Eventually, law enforcement also searched Jorgenesen's apartment. There, they found keys to a storage facility in Woodbridge.
It was that storage facility that contained the remains of Ms. Starren. The NY Post shared that "they located Starren's dismembered remains in two separate coolers as well as a large bag." It was during that investigation that investigators found evidence of the crime committed against Xayavong.
Do The Crime Do The Time

After police found the remains of the women in the two storage units, Jorgensen was taken into custody. Then, after admitting that he killed and dismembered two women he faced his sentence. He is expected to be sentenced in late February to two 40-year terms, one for each woman's death.
Apparently, that is the maximum under Minnesota law "for each count of intentional second-degree murder." Furthermore, prosecutors revealed that Jorgensen will serve his years concurrently. Typically, two thirds of the time is spent behind bars while the remaining time is spent on supervised release. However I doubt the families of these women would agree with Jorgensen ever walking free again.
