All across the country, burgers, hot dogs and steaks will abound as patriots commemorate the birth of America for the 250th time.
WalletHub's Fourth of July facts and figures study found that Americans plan to spend $9.4 billion on food for the holiday, as cookouts, family gatherings and parties remain a major part of the annual celebration.
Before inviting family and friends over for a day of sun-soaked adventures and American dining, though, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) wants people to ensure that one grilling tool is not included in their plans.
CPSC Issues Massive Recall For Cuisinart Grill Brushes
Nearly two million grill brushes are under recall as they pose an ingestion hazard to consumers, the CPSC said Thursday.
Roughly 1.7 million Cuisinart grill brushes have been recalled as the small metal wire brushes can detach and stick to the grill or food.
The recall applies to Cuisinart grill brushes sold from June 2009 through March 2026 at retailers including Burlington, TJ Maxx and Ross, as well as online through Amazon and Cuisinart, according to the CPSC.
The agency warned that "small metal wire bristles can detach from the brushes and stick to the grill or food. Posing an ingestion hazard and risk of serious internal injuries that could require surgery."
The massive recall includes the following Cuisinart grill brush models: CCB-100, CCB-4125, CCB-5014, CCB-6450, CCB-8012, CCB-4114, CCB-W2 and CSBS-777.
Consumers are urged to stop using the recalled brushes immediately. By contacting Conair, consumers can receive a full refund or credit toward a future Cuisinart purchase.
This is at least the third grill brush recall in 2026. Back in February, Weber recalled 3.2 million grill brushes over ingestion hazards. The following month, Nexgrill recalled 10.2 million grill brushes after wire bristles were found in food and throats.
According to the CPSC, there have already been 54 reported cases of consumers being hospitalized after ingesting the metal bristles. Swallowing metal bristles can cause damage to the digestive tract or throat.
