Glee has officially been greenlit for a reboot. Disney+ and Hulu made the announcement on Wednesday, October 21. Rumors of a reboot have persisted for the past few months. It all started when Ryan Murphy told PEOPLE, "That show is interesting because it's come back around. So many young people now watch it. And I'm like, 'Maybe we should revisit that show.'"

In September, Murphy revealed that he'd finished writing the script for a potential reboot; however, no decision had been made regarding the future of the show.
Disney+ announced the reboot on Instagram with the caption "Currently gleeking out!"
"My nostalgia and love for that show is enough that I'm like, 'Well, maybe people would like to see a new incarnation of that in some capacity,'" Murphy told PEOPLE in July. "So yeah, I love that show, and I loved what it became and what it meant to so many people."
Currently, there has been no information regarding who could be returning from the original cast. However, it's fair to assume that multiple former characters would be welcome, should they wish to reprise their role on the fan-favorite sitcom.
Former 'Glee' Star Teases Her Return
Following the news that Glee has been given the green light, Heather Morris, who played Brittany S. Pierce, took to Instagram to share an image of herself wearing a Cheerios uniform.
"Yes ladies and gentle men of women, rumors are true," she wrote in the caption, seemingly in character. "Brittany S Pierce was in fact lost in the sewers for all these years. But I'm here to inform you that she is alive and well...And back for more."
Sadly, some members of Glee's original cast are no longer with us. Cory Monteith, Naya Rivera and Mark Salling have all sadly passed away since the show ended.
Fans will undoubtedly hope the reboot finds a way to pay homage to the trio, potentially with a feature song or some form of flashback performance. Either way, Millennials are getting one of their favorite shows back, and with it, the world is starting to feel that little bit better.
