Military Vet Faces Down Home Intruder

As reported by the Daily Mail, Justin Couch, a 38-year-old veteran, faced down a home intruder. On Monday, April 14th, at 11:30 pm, to be specific. That night, Justin Couch and his wife Allison were asleep when, all of a sudden, they were woken by their frightened 15-year-old son.

Apparently, a man had broken into the child's bedroom during the night. The suspect had used a rock to smash the window before climbing into the house.

Justin said later in a statement that, "In that moment I was terrified, I'm going to be honest with you." But also, who wouldn't be? Your terrified child just stormed into your room, saying there's an intruder in the house. However, did this man pack his things and run? No, he protected his family.

The attacker, later identified as Abdil Aquil, threatened to murder everyone in the house. These reports, according to an interview with Justin, later.

Now, Justin could have easily killed this man. He is a trained veteran with plenty of experience handling a firearm. However, Justin, being the hero he is, only used his gun to startle the man off. Justin said later, "I was just thinking I've got to protect my kids, but I don't want to kill someone in front of my kids."

True American Hero

This guy could not be any more of a hero if he tried. You're telling me he was scared out of his mind, with his children and wife around him, and he still didn't take the man's life? I've got a great dad, but man, this guy is easily Dad of the Year.

It eventually took multiple people wielding tasers to subdue the assailant. Yes, you read that right.

So, just to recap, this elite father-figure protected his family, stood his ground, and didn't take a life. I guess that's all in a night's work for the bravest amongst us.
