This Military Anthem Medley Will Make You Proud to be an American

There are countless incredible ways to honor the men and women of the armed services who gave everything to defend the United States and the freedoms we as Americans enjoy this and every Memorial Day, but guitarist Jim Deeming absolutely came up with one of the best. Deeming put together a medley of patriotic music honoring all five branches of the military — the U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, and Navy.

Deeming's U.S. Armed Forces Medley combines the anthems of all the service branches. "Shores of Tripoli" for the Marines, "Anchors Aweigh" for the Navy, "The Army Goes Rolling Along" for, of course, the Army, "Semper Paratus" for the Coast Guard, and the "U.S. Air Force Song" for, you guessed it, the Air Force.

As great as the "Star Spangled Banner" and "America the Beautiful" are, this is maybe the coolest song we've heard honoring our military in quite some time. Deeming does it all by himself on a fingerstyle guitar, and the arrangement works incredibly well. Not only is it a cool combination of all the songs, but it works musically as well. There are no awkward fits or transitions. Just pure, wonderful American sounds.

So this year while you're grilling burgers and hot dogs, having beers with family, and tossing your kids into the pool, maybe put on Jim Deeming's salute to all the brave soldiers, sailors, and airmen who came before us and laid down their lives on battlefields across the world as well as right here at home so that we could be free (and free to grill, drink, and swim).

Nicely done, Mr. Deeming. If your talent for medleys really is this strong may we suggest doing something for the Fourth of July and Christmas as well? We could listen to stuff like this all day.
