Country music star Dolly Parton passed away on Tuesday (August 25). She was 80 years old.

Dolly was one of the more prominent names not just in the music industry, but in the entertainment industry overall. After her sudden passing, several of the top tastemakers in the industry paid tribute to the late star. Among the people who offered tribute was music star Miley Cyrus, who was also her goddaughter.

In a post shared to her social media account on Wednesday (August 26), Cyrus described the wave of emotions that she is navigating through as "beyond what feels right to share."
"Our most sacred moments were private, and they'll stay there behind the stage, beneath the glamour & between our hearts," Miley wrote in a statement.
She also noted that in the moments following her godmother's passing, she pondered how Dolly would want her to respond in the moment. And said that as she is grieving the loss of Dolly, she is comforted in knowing that she now has an "angel" on her side. And revealed details about one of the last conversations that they shared.
"What I KNOW is Dolly would want me to feel it, write a song about it, and then continue and be strong," she continued. "I have an angel by my side. I always have. One of our last conversations was about music and metamorphosis."
She also sent consoling messages to all of Dolly's grieving fans who may be feeling something similar.
"I will always love her and want to make her proud. My heart breaks for the world, her family and friends who will miss her deeply," Cyrus concluded her statement. "We're in this loss together, and we will see her in all of the most beautiful things."
Reps for the country music icon revealed that Parton passed on Tuesday morning after a "brief battle with cancer." No details about a public memorial have been revealed. However, a small, intimate service is being planned in her hometown of Nashville, Tennessee.
