Hear Midland's Steamy New Song 'Put the Hurt on Me'

"Put the Hurt on Me," the latest teaser for Midland's forthcoming sophomore album Let It Roll, blends splashes of Latin, honky-tonk and soft rock influence with sultry themes for a surefire dance floor-filler.

Band members Mark Wystrach, Cameron Duddy and Jess Carson co-wrote it alongside two of Nashville's best songwriters: Shane McAnally and Josh Osborne. The collaborators strike a perfect balance between the old-timey vibes captured on the trio's 2017 breakthrough On The Rocks and the modern storytelling depth McAnally and Osborne bring to the mainstream.

The catchy new entry in the Midland songbook gets PG-13 with its new spin on an old concept: "Love Hurts." "Kill me softly baby with your kiss / If I go I wanna go like this / Come on be as cruel as you can be / Yeah baby, put the hurt on me," sings Wystrach during the song's harmonious chorus.

It's the second track unveiled from Let It Roll, out Aug. 23. Prior single "Mr. Lonely" featured a hilarous music video starring Dennis Quaid as the song's unlucky lead character.

There's no track list available yet, but we do know that Midland's new collection of songs is at least partly autobiographical.

"Everything we've learned out on the road touring On the Rocks is all right here in this album," Wystrach says in a press release. "These songs are deeply personal and from the heart."

"Put the Hurt on Me" Lyrics

Girl, you already got me
Go on and throw out the key
You lock me up with your body
That's the only way I'll ever be free

Kill me softly baby with your kiss
If I go I wanna go like this
Come on be as cruel as you can be
Ya baby put the hurt on me

Don't have to promise tomorrow
I know that's only a lie
But one more taste of your sweet poison
Is gonna burn me just right

Kill me softly baby with your kiss
If I go I wanna go like this
Come on be as cruel as you can be
Ya baby put the hurt on me

Oh yeah
Baby put the hurt on me

Come on, come a little closer to me
Let the heartache just wash over me

Kill me softly baby with your kiss
If I go I wanna go like this
Come on be as cruel as you can be
Ya baby put the hurt on me

Oh yeah
Yeah baby put the hurt on me
Oh yeah, oh yeah
Yeah baby put the hurt on me
Put the hurt on me
On me
