A mother from Michigan woke up to a nasty surprise when she found a stranger, who she initially thought was her boyfriend, lurking in her Attic.

Per a report by Fox47, the incident occurred on Tuesday 21, early in the morning at around 6:00 am. Ashley Strong woke up to find the ladder to her attic was pulled down. In an interview with the outlet, Strong explains that she thought her boyfriend, David, may have come home from work early. If not David, Strong guessed it could have been David's son as he's an older teenager.
Unfortunately for Strong, neither of those suspicions were correct. She explains, "I pulled down the stairs the whole way, and I started to climb up them, and I said, what the ****. And then it wasn't David's voice that responded."
Strong says that she encountered a stranger when she reached the top of the staircase. "At the top of the stairs with his back towards me, and his hood is up. At that point, he reached behind him like this." Strong makes a gesture as if grabbing something from her waistband. She then screamed at him, "Do you have a gun?"
Strong Explains She Didn't Know If She Or Her Daughter Would Be Ok
Strong explains that when she thought she saw a gun, she immediately thought of her daughter. "I just didn't know if my daughter and I were gonna be ok by the time the cops got there," she said. At that point, Strong folded up the attic stairs, slammed it shut, and screamed, "Run!" to her daughter.
According to People, the pair quickly left the house and waited for officers from the Jackson County Sheriff's Office to arrive. Strong says that once the police showed up, they had to remove him from the house forcibly. She also explains that she's unsure how the stranger got in and that it will be a while before she feels safe in her home again.
Authorities have not identified the man at the time of writing. Per the report by People, authorities have charged him with home invasion and for assaulting a police officer.
