Metallica performed at Cardiff's Principality Stadium on Sunday, June 28, as part of their ongoing European tour.
After the show, the band donated more than $26,000 through its All Within My Hands Foundation.
Rock Band Donation Helps Cardiff Food Bank
Cardiff Foodbank said it was "thrilled" to receive the donation, revealing it will make a significant difference to people relying on its services.
"This timely donation will help replenish our warehouse and could support around 1,000 people - the equivalent of 9,000 meals," the organization wrote on social media.
Cardiff Foodbank CEO Rachel Biggs explained how the donation came about, revealing it is the largest celebrity contribution the charity has ever received.
"We had an email saying 'This isn't a scam, please get in touch with the foundation,'" she said. "They said 'We are going to donate £20,000 to you.'"
"It's an incredible amount of money which will make such a difference and replenish our empty shelves."
The donation comes at a crucial time for the organization as it continues to face rising demand for food assistance.
Donation Comes at Crucial Time for Struggling Food Bank
Earlier this month, Cardiff Foodbank warned that it was struggling to keep essential supplies on its shelves.
"We have never seen our warehouse so empty, and now, for the first time ever, we're out of crucial items—such as long-life fruit juices that make up our three-day emergency food parcels," the post stated.
Biggs said donations to the charity have fallen by around 27 percent, making Metallica's contribution especially impactful.
She said the funding will allow the food bank to place a bulk order to replenish vital supplies. It will help secure stock levels for the remainder of the year.
Metallica launched the All Within My Hands Foundation in 2017. The aim was to create "sustainable communities by supporting workforce education, the fight against hunger, and other critical local services."
The band is currently nearing the end of its M72 World Tour, which began in April 2023 across multiple legs.
A total of 99 shows have been scheduled, with performances at London's Stadium on July 3 and July 5 set to conclude the tour.
