Ten people have sadly died following a plane crash in the Bahamas. According to The Daily Mail, five members of the popular Da Pond Band were killed.

"Five members of a well known musical group have been identified as some of the victims who died after a small plane crashed in the Bahamas," the publication reported. "Members of 'Da Pond Band' were identified on social media and in a flight manifest as being aboard the Flamingo Air flight when it crashed in North Andros on Friday."
Shaniese Miller, a beloved member of the group, posted on Facebook to assure fans she was alive and well. However, Lamar Polhamus followed up by informing fans that five members of the group had sadly passed away.
"Da Pond Band is mourning a devastating blow not only to us but the entire country. Da Pond Band has lost 5 of its members. (They) were the core, the heart, and the life of the band," he wrote
on Facebook. "This recovery will be long and rough we can only ask for some space, time, support and prayers."A Statement Has Now Been Released Regarding the Plane Crash
The Bahamas Musicians and Entertainers Union announced the news on Saturday, July 11.
"It is with profound sorrow and heavy hearts that we, the officers and members of the Bahamas Musicians and Entertainers Union (BMEU), extend our deepest condolences to the families, friends, and loved ones of the 10 persons who tragically lost their lives in the recent airplane accident," the union wrote as part of a statement that was then posted on X.
The statement then continued by providing some details of the passengers on board.
"Among the dearly departed are some of the talented and vibrant members of our entertainment community. They include members of The Pond Band and a DJ, whose passion, dedication, and artistry touched so many lives and helped to enrich the cultural fabric of The Bahamas."
The statement concluded with the union sharing its solidarity with the families impacted by the plane crash.
"We stand in solidarity with their families, fellow bandmates, colleagues, and all who are grieving during this incredibly difficult time. Their loss is not only felt within the industry but across the entire nation."
