Melissa Gilbert is Loving Her New Role as 'Nana' to Granddaughter

Melissa Gilbert has taken on a new role and she couldn't be more proud. The Little House on the Prairie star is officially a grandma and is loving being "Nana" to her new granddaughter. She's been sharing sweet photos of the baby girl on her Instagram page and we honestly can't get enough.

Gilbert announced the baby girl's birth on June 9 with a sweet post on social media, adding that she and her husband Timothy Busfield were over the moon to meet the little one for the first time in person.

"So so happy to tell you all that @timbusfield and I are Nana and Papa to this sweet angel. Ripley Lou Brinkman arrived last night at 6:18 pm central time. She weighs 7lbs 7oz and is 19.5 inches long. Everyone is healthy and doing well. So proud of my son Dakota and his wife @martobes. She was a warrior through the whole process, and he was the perfect partner to her. Next up, traveling to Texas to meet our new granddaughter."

In another post, the former child star joked that her followers better get used to seeing photos of the new baby because her granddaughter was going to fill up her feed.

"My feed is going to get boring if you're not into babies. I'm a very proud Nana!!"

If your heart doesn't explode seeing this photo of Gilbert holding her first grandchild, I don't know what's wrong with you. She and her husband flew down from their home in New York to visit baby Ripley and of course, her son Dakota Brinkman and his wife Marissa. Seeing her hold her granddaughter Ripley in real life is such a precious moment that of course, the former TV star shared on social media.

"Happy Nana!" she posted from her son's home in Austin, Texas. We have no doubt that our Laura Ingalls will be an amazing grandparent!
