Rapper Suddenly Becomes Sick While Performing on Broadway, Will Return to the Show on Thursday

Rapper Megan Thee Stallion reportedly became ill while she was performing in Moulin Rouge! The Musical on Broadway on Tuesday, March 31. On the morning of April 1, her rep issued a statement on her condition per The Hollywood Reporter. "On Tuesday evening, Megan was transported to a local hospital to undergo a medical evaluation after experiencing concerning symptoms. Doctors ultimately identified extreme exhaustion, dehydration, vasoconstriction and low metabolic levels as the cause of her symptoms. Megan has since been treated, discharged and is now resting."

Additionally, the statement went on to say, "Megan is incredibly grateful for the prayers and well-wishes from her supporters and is looking forward to resuming her role as Zidler on Moulin Rouge on Thursday."

A person identified by the outlet as an entertainment news correspondent named Loren LoRosa wrote her impressions of the evening. Therefore, she says this is what happened as posted on X at 8:22 p.m.

"Came to see Meg The stallion on broadway and that was short lived. The few opening scenes I saw her in she was great on stage! I was excited BUT... They just stopped moulin rouge mid show apologized to the audience and said ..'stay inside and seated' I asked security if we're safe .. they told us 'for now, we'll update you if anything changes'"

Megan Thee Stallion Is Thrilled To Be in the Production

Megan Thee Stallion made her Broadway debut on Tuesday, March 24 as Zidler in Moulin Rouge! The Musical. Also, it will be a planned two-month run for her that is scheduled to end on May 17. Megan wrote about her excitement to have the plum part on Instagram a week ago.

Furthermore, the Texas-born rapper also issued a statement before that, per the outlet. Megan Thee Stallion said, "Stepping onto the Broadway stage and joining the Moulin Rouge! The Musical team is an absolute honor. I've always believed in pushing myself creatively, and theater is definitely a new opportunity that I'm excited to embrace."

In fact, the flamboyant musical was also a 2001 film starring Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor. It was directed by Baz Luhrmann.
