Megan Moroney Reveals The 2 Huge Pop Stars She Wants To Collaborate With On Her Next Album

Megan Moroney is already a successful country music artist. The 27-year-old has had hit after hit, including her recent No. 1 single, "Am I Okay?" She also has another song at radio, with "You Had To Be There." The song is a duet with future Country Music Hall of Fame member, Kenny Chesney.

So it might be surprising that the two artists Moroney really wants to collaborate with on her next album are definitely not country. Rather, she has her eye on two of pop music's biggest stars right now: Olivia Rodrigo and Tate McRae!

"I would imagine that [our song] would lean sad and angry," Moroney tells People, speaking of working with Rodrigo. "I think we would crush an idea like that."

Moroney's eclectic musical tastes are varied and go beyond just country music. It's why she wants to work with the two pop singers.

"I'm a fan of them," Moroney explains. "I've gotten to briefly hang out with both of them, and I think we could come up with something really cool if the opportunity presented itself."

Megan Moroney's Next Album

Moroney is hard at work on her new set of tunes, the follow-up to Am I Okay?, out in 2024.

"I am definitely in the studio working on the next album," the Georgia native divulges. "I'm giving myself a few more months to write some more songs. But it feels lighter and a little more carefree than my other albums."

Moroney is once again working with Sugarland's Kristian Bush. Still, she vows her next record will be different than anything she has done in the past.

"I'm excited to be experimenting, even though I got the same producer and I'm working with a lot of the same songwriters," Moroney says of her third album. "It's just been fun to be like, 'Okay, what have we not really done yet, and what's still on brand, but new and fresh?"

Moroney fans need not worry. Experimenting aside, Moroney vows her fans will still hear the music they love from her.

"It's more me than ever," Moroney hints.

No word on when Moroney's new record will be released. "You Had To Be There" is already in the Top 40.
