Massachusetts Police Officers Rush Into Burning Home To Save Dog

Two Massachusetts police officers have received commendations on social media after rushing into a burning home to save a dog.

What would you do to save a dog? Well, if you're an animal lover like me, you'd do a lot of things. But even I wouldn't go to the lengths these police officers went to.

As reported by WBAL News, two police officers rushed into a home on Cape Cod in Massachusetts to save a dog. They also helped to battle the blaze. The incident happened last week.

The body cam footage shows the remarkable rescue of the pup. An exterior wall of the house is actively burning as the officers rush through the door to enter the home.

One officer, Officer Corbett, rushes in and notices that one-and-a-half-year-old Scooby is in danger. He scoops him up before walking him outside. Body cam footage from Officer McNeice shows him battling the blaze with a fire extinguisher.

The Barnstable Police Department posted a

statement on social media featuring a heartwarming photo of the dog and the homeowners being reunited.

The statement reads, "At approximately 6:45 pm, while assigned to traffic enforcement focusing on aggressive drivers on Lincoln Rd, Officer McNeice and Officer Corbett heard a call come in reporting a structure fire at 14 Elis Drive, Hyannis."

Social Media Has Praised the Officers for Their Efforts

The officers have received a lot of praise online for their actions.

Lots of people made funny puns based on the dog's name. "Extra scooby snacks for Erik and TJ! Well done, lads!" one person wrote. Another wrote, "Scooby Doo you're a hero!" Another poster used a picture of Shaggy from the iconic TV show with the caption "Shaggy reacting to the cops saving him."

Others praised them for their courage and initiative, especially given the danger present. One commented, "Not all heroes wear capes. Thank you for your courage," with another writing, "Being a daughter and granddaughter of firefighters I have nothing but respect for the work they and police officers do, and the sacrifices they make."

This is such a heartwarming moment. We're glad the officers were there to save Scooby from the fire before anything bad happened! Good on them!
