Baltimore County Police Department shared on their social media that they were investigating a shooting on the 8500 block of Loch Raven Boulevard at 7:15 p.m. last night. The shooting left nine injured and one dead, according to officials.

The injured were transported to area hospitals in unknown conditions. They are currently still in the hospital, although their present conditions remain unknown. Not all of the injured suffered gunshot wounds.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found an upturned car on fire near the Johnson Funeral Home in Towson. Apparently, the driver of the car was also responsible for the shooting. It isn't known what occurred that led the car to crash, although it's being investigated.

No arrests have been made, although police are assured that this wasn't a random attack.

Police Chief Robert McCullough faced reporters that night, saying that "It appears to be a mass shooting incident. We have multiple persons who were shot. Right now, we are determining the circumstances and the conditions in this case."

Mass Shooting Leaves One Dead And Nine Injured

McCullough stated how the attack was a targeted assault and poses no further threat to the community, although nothing was said about a potential motive.

"We will leave no stone unturned and we will dedicate every resource to this. We don't generally see incidents like this in our community in Baltimore County. I assure you as your police chief that we will put all resources toward trying to clear this case," McCullough reassured.

Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski said, "This is an incident that is shocking, particularly for those of us in Baltimore County."

"These types of incidents are unheard of here, so it really shocks the conscience. However, we want our residents to know that we are, as always, fully committed to ensuring that both our fire and police departments have the full support and all the resources they need from the Baltimore County government to ensure that they bring this investigation to a conclusion."

The case is evolving rapidly, although many facts still remain in the dark.
