So far, as of November 2024, there have been a total of 78 school shootings and 474 mass shootings in the US. This school shooting in California is only adding to this statistic, leaving the gunman dead at the scene. The US is solidly topping the leaderboard for most mass shootings in the world, and something needs to be done.

With no clear motive for the school shooting, a gunman arrived at Feather River School of Seventh-Day Adventists in Palermo, California at 1 pm. He then proceeded to open fire on the students. While firing on the kindergarten children, he grievously injured two.

The two young children, aged 5 and 6, were rushed to hospital in "extremely critical condition." The cowardly gunman then turned the weapon on himself, dying from a single gunshot to the head. Now, no motivation will be known, and no justice for the disgusting school shooting will be served.

The small school of only 33 students was rocked by the tragedy. The remaining students were rushed from the scene of the school shooting to the California Oroville Church of the Nazarene. Here they were picked up by parents while the area was locked down.

California School Shooting Tragic But Not Uncommon

Sadly, this kind of occurrence is devastating but not uncommon in the US. In this case, innocent kindergarten children were exposed to someone who was mentally deeply unwell. Every year there are hundreds of mass shootings around the country, often taking part in schools filled with innocent children.

The reasons for these mass shootings are unclear. The US is not the only country with the right to bear arms, and yet it is the only one with this level of mass shootings. The Czech Republic also has the right to bear arms, and yet has an incredibly low homicide rate.

This school shooting in California is just more proof that big changes are needed in numerous US institutions. Right now, the identity of the school shooter hasn't been revealed. It's unknown if he head a connection to the school.
