The Story of Martin's BBQ Joint
Martin's BBQ Joint is a legend of west Tennessee, bringing unique and mouthwateringly delicious barbecue to customers throughout the area. This iconic barbecue restaurant is owned by Pat Martin, who learned how to make whole hog bar-b-que over two decades ago in the small town of Henderson, Tennessee.
Whole hog barbecue is essentially what it sounds like- the method of barbecuing an entire animal rather than cuts of meat. This method takes a level of expertise and patience that only a number of pitmasters in the country have. The process can take anywhere from 12 to 24 hours, and is done over a large pit. Because of this, any beef brisket or pulled pork that customers experience at Martin's BBQ was actually prepared a day ahead of time.
After mastering the age-old method of whole hog, Pat Martin eventually relocated to Nashville, where he decided to open his own barbecue joint using the techniques he'd learned. The first Martin's BBQ Joint was in Nolensville, Tennessee, but there are now nine locations, from Nashville to Louisville to Birmingham.
The Nashville location is in the center of downtown, near Music City Center and Lower Broadway. It has a large beer garden and features live music for customers to enjoy while chowing down on ribs, mac n cheese and pecan pie. Customers come from near and far to experience the one-of-a-kind barbecue at Martin's BBQ Joint, which has been featured on the Food Network, Cooking Channel, Travel Channel, Men's Journal, and more.
