Yellowstone spinoff Marshals got off to a rip-roaring start when it debuted on CBS on Sunday, Marsh 1. It seemed to be a certified hit right out of the gate. The Montana-based drama, which stars Luke Grimes reprising his role as Kayce Dutton, now in his new incarnation as a single dad and U.S. Marshal, also features Arielle Kebbel as one of his colleagues. However, the Florida-born actress says she has never met the wizard of the Yellowstone ecosystem, Taylor Sheridan. Does he prefer to be the invisible, mysterious power behind-the-scenes of hugely successful shows like Landman, The Madison, and Marshals? Or is he just plain really busy?

Kebbel Guessed About Why She Doesn't See Taylor Sheridan
According to People, the actress offered a theory about why she does not see Sheridan. "It's funny. I was talking with some of the cast of his other shows, and at least in my experience, Taylor's like the man behind the curtain. No one ever sees him." She mentioned, "The man is busy. So I actually have not met him." It doesn't sound like there is any resentment about that. More like understanding that one of the top, most in-demand creators in television just has his hands too full to hob-nob with everyone.
She Clarified Sheridan's Absence Further
Kebbel also explained another reason for his lack of presence on the set. "For our show, it's a bit of a different story because our show is truly a hybrid of the Yellowstone universe, with Taylor's blessing and Taylor executive producing and 101 Studios behind us. Also, Spencer Hudnut is our show creator."
It's evidently Hudnut who shoulders a lot of the responsibility for Marshals. According to Arielle Kebbel, he "has worked really hard to bring [this world to life] — like we have real Navy SEALs on set with us, training us." Furthermore, "So, just in terms of the character development and story arcs, it's really a merger of the world that Taylor [created with Yellowstone] with this new chapter that Spencer's created."
There Is Continuity Between 'Yellowstone' and 'Marshals,' Plus Exciting New Characters
Although there is some carryover of characters from Yellowstone, Kebbel also pointed out that there are many new faces sa well. She noted, "That's also why I say we're so lucky that we had so many of the original [Yellowstone] cast come with us. Because it really does help keep things familiar in that world while also bringing in these new characters."
