Mark Consuelos has made an dramatic announcement on the daytime talk show he co-hosts with wife Kelly Ripa. He is about to undergo surgery on his aching toe. On the Friday, September 25, episode of Live with Kelly and Mark, Consuelos said he was having the medical procedure done right after the show. He's apparently been delaying it for quite a while.

He shared with viewers, "Today's the day. I've been putting off this toe surgery for about a year." Ripa ribbed him about the surgery. "I'm not resisting the opportunity to video capture you coming out of your propofol haze," she affectionately jibed.
Consuelos retorted, "That's right. People say some funny, funny things." Propofol is an intravenous sedative. She teased him right back. "I have you on video from your last foot surgery!"
Consuelos Was Fasting in Preparation for the Surgery
He confessed to being "a little loopy" from not having any food prior to his surgery. Kelly Ripa was skeptical. She quipped, "I've never heard of fasting for 24 hours before a surgery." Mark Consuelos answered in high spirits, "It's dumb. I just want to eat! I can be convinced to eat at any moment!"
The married couple, who wed in 1996, then chatted about how she can tend to him afterwards. Perhaps Ripa will temporarily assume his household duties like walking their pooch. He kidded her. "Put your phone down, take your AirPods out of your ears."
To keep him happily occupied while he is off his feet, Ripa suggested this. "I can teach you to knit, if you want!" Consulos joked, "Yeah! I'm going to bedazzle my boot."
Kelly Ripa Also Had a Medical Procedure Recently
In July, Ripa reportedly had gum graft surgery. She was absent from her chair on the show for a while, sitting out some Live episodes during her recuperation. At that time, Mark Consuelos was Kelly Ripa's caregiver. He opened up about her temporary regimen, saying on air that she needed to eat soft foods and refrain from speaking. When Ripa made her return, she acknowledged that she had naughtily been "talking like crazy" anyway.
