Nashville newcomer Maren Morris is off to a hot start in 2016. Her song "My Church" broke country radio records when it was played by 107 stations in its first week of promotion -- more than any other song by a female since they started keeping track.
And if that weren't enough, Morris just premiered her new music video for "My Church" on CMT. Speaking with Wide Open Country last month, Morris said, "It was the coolest experience of my life getting to shoot my first music video in Texas during the most beautiful week; it was a great homage to my home state."
She filmed the feel-good video around parts of Austin and Fort Worth. Largely shot on the wide open road (a fitting tribute to the theme of the song), it makes perfect sense that Morris wanted to come down from Tennessee to film her first video ever.
In an Instagram post, Morris wrote:
"When I wrote "My Church, I wasn't looking this far ahead. It was a song I loved and all I wanted to do was play it. Never would I have imagined shooting a video for it just a short several months later. Filming it in Texas was so important to me because I couldn't imagine a better setting for the message of this song. It is my home and still the biggest chapter in my story. Even though I hang my hat in Tennessee, this video is my love letter to Texas. Thank you to the cast, crew and my badass director @raemcdonald for visually capturing this song and bringing it to life. Hope y'all love the video!"
