If you didn't know it, Texas is big.
You've probably heard the fun fact by now that the distance from El Paso to Houston is roughly the same as El Paso to Los Angeles or Houston to Florida, but even that doesn't show you just how big it is.
So big, in fact, that sometimes it takes the help of an infographic to show you just how big it really is. Thanks to SelfStorage.com, we can now see just how many countries Texas could keep in it if it were a storage unit.
The map uses the true size of a country to overlay it in Texas, as opposed to what you might traditionally see on a flat map. Those depictions of some of those countries are distorted in order to make it easier to fit onto a two dimensional piece of paper. It's why places like Canada and Greenland look way larger than they are (though to be fair, Canada is still huge too).
A few more fun facts: Texas would be the 39th largest country in the world (out of 197) if it were its own country. You could fit all of the UK inside Texas 2.8 times. Even more amazingly, you could fit TEN European countries inside Texas at once, with room to spare.
Check out the infographic above and begin dreading that drive you have to make from Houston to Amarillo, otherwise known as "the entire length of Italy."
