One creative man made sure that his pets wouldn't be left onshore when he headed out for a sea adventure.
David Bahnson had a loving and close relationship with his two Golden Retrievers. As an avid outdoorsman, Bahnson wanted to come up with a way to allow his canine companions to accompany him in his adventures.
His solution was to build a custom-made kayak with two seats for his beloved puppies. "Our dogs have always loved to travel with us in cars, in my airplane, in boats," he told Huffington Post UK. "Building a way for them to kayak with us just seemed like a logical choice, and the boats are fun to build anyway."
"Once I taught one of my golden retrievers how to windsurf with me, and she was very good at staying on the board and really seemed to enjoy it. At one point she even swam several hundred feet off shore when I had gone windsurfing without her."
Although his two pets have since passed away, Bahnson says he still cherishes the adventures they took together. "My wife and her friends still use the kayaks and she takes our newest golden, Piper, along with her."
