A man, on a quick snack run, decided that he would treat himself to a scratch-off lotto ticket. Always hopefully, but never expecting, he scratched the Let's Make A Deal ticket to find he had won the top prize of $100,000.

As he sat there, surrounded by snacks, Paniagua-Maravilla, realized what had just happened. "I screamed a little bit," he said of his lucky lotto win. He still hasn't decided what he will do with his winnings. However, he won't be short of snacks for a while.

Once the taxman steps in and takes their cut of the winnings, he should still be left with a fair amount. it will certainly be enough to put down a house deposit or even go to college. A few tens of thousands can go a long way if spent well.

Lotto Pays Out To More Than Just The Lucky Snack Man

The lotto, known as idiot tax, rakes in millions from hopeful gamblers every year. But it doesn't all go straight into the pockets of the gambling companies. They use a lot of the funds to benefit communities.

The Virginia lottery, where the snack man got his winning lotto ticket, gave all their earnings to the state's school districts. According to them, they gave an estimated $934 million to the education system in the state. This equates to a massive 10% of the total funding. Surely, that should make lotto tickets a tax right off?

Everyone dreams of winning the lottery, but when it comes around, few know what to do with the money. Having a massive excess all of a sudden can be alarming. Most people learn to live with what they have. But, I don't think anyone would say no to winning big on the lotto.
