A 44-year-old Colorado man, Daniel Krug, was found guilty of murder, stalking, and impersonation, following the 2023 death of his wife, Kristil Krug. In a disturbing attempt to save his falling marriage, Krug impersonated an ex-boyfriend who appeared to be stalking her. He would then act as a protective man. When his ruse was discovered, Daniel killed Kristil in cold blood. He will spend the rest of his life in prison.

According to The Associated Press, prosecutors detailed in court how the Krug marriage began to fall apart years ago. In an attempt to salvage his marriage with Kristil, Daniel Krug devised a deviant and disturbing plan. He was to impersonate one of Kristil's ex-boyfriends and scare her by stalking. At the same time, he would act as a protective husband, looking to gain her love once again.
It all started to crumble in October 2023, when Kristil contacted the Broomfield Police Department (BPD). She reported that one of her ex-boyfriends from 20 years ago began harassing her online. Of course, there was no ex-boyfriend at all, only Daniel.
In these online interactions, the faux ex-boyfriend began sending emails and text messages to Kristil. Some of them criticized Daniel, while some of them suggested she was being watched, with her receiving photos of her whereabouts.
Impersonation To Murder
Eventually, police began investigating the source of these messages, finding that their IP address coincided with Daniel Krug's address. He had been using his work's computer network as well as a burner phone to send the messages. At the same time, however, Daniel began fearing that he might face criminal charges due to his elaborate ruse. He decided to take action directly.
On December 13, 2023, Daniel waited for Kristil at their Denver home. She had just taken their two children to school. Upon returning home, Daniel knocked her unconscious and then proceeded to fatally stab her in the heart.
While the defense argued that no DNA connecting Daniel to the crime was retrieved from the scene, this didn't convince the jury. On Thursday, April 17, he was found guilty of first-degree murder, two counts of stalking, and one count of criminal impersonation. One day later, on April 18, he was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
In a moving obituary, Kristil's family and loved ones remembered her fondly, regretting her sudden and violent death.
"She is remembered by all as successful, driven, loving, considerate, passionate, intelligent, beautiful, and delightful to be around," the obituary reads. "She accomplished so much in her short life, and had so much left to contribute before being so savagely removed. The world will miss what she had yet to give us."

Drama and defending the indefensible. Want to know why he is going to spend life in prison. Look at the one who birthed him. Those actions speak a volume.
It's been a horror story for 60 years. "These people" can't live in civilized society. The Civil Rights Act was the beginning of the end of white civilization.
Closure is nonsense...something made up. Stop using the word.
Please save your vile racism for your MAGA rallies.
My racism is wonderful. It means I notice the vile behavior of useless usual suspects. I'm not a MAGA rally type person, by the way, so I say things so you'll get to see it, too.
Oh sure, tell that to the parents from the Uvalde school shooting—or any of the countless other school shootings. But please, go on about how Black people are the 'uncivilized' ones. Because, you know, it was totally Black people who started two world wars and colonized half the planet. Makes perfect sense
Yea, no. Regardless, they're worse.
There's a mass shooting in Chicago every weekend. But it's so common that the media never bothers to cover them.
What the hell is she wearing at Court? I guess she was heading to the local watering hole after the sentencing.
White civilization.....that is laughable!!!
