Carpenter Matty Goldsmith was renovating a home outside of Nova Scotia, Canada, when he found a bit of nostalgia under some flooring. According to United Press International (UPI), it was a wallet packed with quite a few interesting items. It contained just about everything a 1970s era teen might need, including a handwritten birth certificate, the owner's driver's license, and a High School student ID.

The wallet's contents also revealed the owner was a big spender and an avid Shakespeare fan. It sported a single dollar bill and a ticket for a Hamlet stage play.

Goldsmith and his crew speculated that the wallet's owner might have worked on the house back in the 1970s. Since it is currently the year of our lord 2026, Goldsmith decided to take to social media in a bid to find the wallet's owner and his lonely back pocket.

"I decided, like, why not try our luck with the internet and see if we can track this person down," Goldsmith told the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC).

Man "Very Pleased' to Get Wallet Back After 51 Years

And so, on Sept. 23, Goldsmith took to Facebook, writing alongside snaps of the wallet's contents," Anyone know a Richard Gilroy born 1958 who went to Dartmouth High in 1975?"

"I found his wallet during a renovation that's been lost in the walls since 1975! Lots of neat treasure in it, would love to get it back to him if possible!" he added.

Gilroy's wife, Donna, spotted the post and left a comment.

"He knows exactly the house where you found it," she explained. "So funny, he would love [to] have it back. Send me a private message and we will make arrangements."

Arrangements were made, and on Sept. 26, he was reunited with his old wallet.

"I was very surprised, to say the least. I'm very pleased to get it all back," the now 68-year-old Gilroy gushed to the CBC.

Gilroy told the outlet he plans to frame the wallet's contents.

"It's very interesting that my original handwritten birth certificate was in my wallet. I have no idea why my parents would have even given it to me," Gilroy admitted.

That said, maybe Gilroy isn't such a big Shakespeare fan after all. He had zero recollection of checking out that Hamlet showing.

However, he called the $1.50 ticket price "amazing."
