An alleged robber attempted to steal two schoolchildren's phones in Chile back on Monday, March 31. Having a gun and a knife in his possession, he was, however, disarmed by the boy and girl he attempted to rob. Allegedly, the 40-year-old man was fatally stabbed, later succumbing to his injuries.

As reported by The Mirror, the incident took place on March 31 at around 9 a.m. at the Pedro Aguirre Cerda Commune in the Chilean city of Santiago. The 40-year-old man approached a boy and a girl, two schoolchildren, and attempted to rob their phones. Reportedly, he carried a gun and a knife and was riding a bicycle.
However, instead of complying, the schoolchildren engaged in a physical struggle with the man. One of the children then took away the man's knife and stabbed him multiple times in the back. The man, having suffered serious injuries, managed to flee from the scene.
The man wouldn't last very long after getting stabbed. Four to five blocks later, based on his blood trail, the man collapsed on the ground. Police officers arrived and found the man dead, having suffered stab wounds "to the posterior thoracic region."

Major Alvaro Muñoz Díaz confirmed this by sharing some of the incident's details with local outlet Bio Bio Chile.
"According to the investigation, a struggle began between the young victims and the man on the bicycle," Muñoz said. "One of these individuals, which is also a matter of investigation, allegedly took the knife from the suspect (the alleged assailant) and stabbed him two or three times, who then fled on his bike."
Prosecutor Juan Cheuquiante told the outlet that the schoolchildren were intimidated by the man.
"They were students heading to school in the morning," Chequiante said. "And according to the initial information we have so far, they say that a subject had intimidated them with a firearm, intending to steal their cell phones."
At the same time, two individuals, reportedly the two schoolchildren, arrived at a police station and reported they were "victims of robbery or attempted robbery."
Chequiante revealed that the deceased 40-year-old man had a criminal record.
