When Scot Warwick was told that he had stage four lung cancer, he and his family prepared for the worst. Over 90% of people diagnosed with this won't live to see a few more years. For the remainder of his life, he was treated with gruelling chemotherapy until he finally died of lung failure after a decade.
After his death, his family found out that he had been misdiagnosed, and the brutal cancer treatment he had received was for nothing. They were furious, knowing they had been robbed of their father and husband.
"My children lost their father. I lost my husband. It wasn't quick. It was long. And it was torturous. And it was terrible." She continued, "I would never, ever wish that on anyone - ever," Warwick's widow said.
It was in fact the very treatment he had been receiving for the cancer that had led to his death. Dr Thomas Weiner had been responsible for the misdiagnosis and continued mistreatment of the man that led to his death.
Misdiagnosis For Cancer Treatment One of Many
Tragically, Warwick was not the only one to have been misdiagnosed and given incorrect and deeply harmful cancer treatment. It transpired that this was just one case of many. Weiner was fired shortly after the death of Warwick. But, this case was described as "the tip of the iceberg" by investigators.
It appears there are more than ten others who have suffered due to the malpractice of this doctor. Another patient, Anthony Olson, was told he had a rare form of blood cancer. He was told he would be dead before the end of the year without treatment.
Recently, he opened up about the diagnosis, saying it changed the course of his life. He was heartbroken and shocked to find that he was living on the edge. He quit his job, and moved back in with his parents, expecting his life to be dictated by his cancer treatment.
Both his physical health and financial stability were ruined. He was left with no teeth, ill health, and his parent's savings in tatters. It was all for nothing. He has since found out the truth.
It appears these misdiagnoses and treatments were all for Thomas Weiner's personal financial gain. His salary topped out at $1 million a year. He is now being sued and investigated.
