A San Antonio man was hospitalized Tuesday after a dispute over a beer at a VIA bus stop escalated into a violent attack. You read that right -- over a beer.

Police arrested the suspect, charging him with aggravated assault, as reported by News 4 San Antonio.
The incident occurred around 6 p.m. local time at a bus stop near Fredericksburg Road and West Hildebrand Avenue on the Northwest Side. Authorities reported that an argument between two men, allegedly sparked by a beer, turned physical. Not to make light of the incident, but it does give a whole new meaning to "bottoms up."
The suspect, identified as 44-year-old Avelino Lopez, drew a boxcutter and slashed a 31-year-old man from his neck to his lower back.
Emergency responders rushed the victim to University Hospital. Initially listed in life-threatening condition, he stabilized by late Tuesday, according to police. Needless to say, the brutal attack stunned witnesses at the busy transit hub.

Police swiftly apprehended Lopez at the scene. He now faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Authorities have not released further details about the events leading to the altercation or the relationship between the men.

"Court documents also show a Bexar County judge set Lopez's bond at $150,000."
