I think at this point I may just fix all of my own food. Look, I'm not saying that poisoning cases are spiking. That would be foolish misinformation. A man allegedly poisoned the food at his niece's wedding out of plain old-fashioned spite.

The incident happened in India. The man allegedly poisoned the food at his niece's wedding and has been arrested for the crime. What made him do such a dastardly act as try to poison his entire family? Allegedly of course. Well, apparently he didn't like who his niece was marrying.

That's right, folks. The uncle hated the groom and the rest of the family got caught in the crossfire. Someone caught Mahesh Jotiram Patil trying to spike the food at his niece's wedding in Kolhapur. The incident happened on January 7, according to The Hindustan Times.

Poisoning At A Wedding

They immediately alerted the authorities to the action. The would-be alleged poisoner didn't just sit around and wait for the cops. He fled the wedding and attempted to slip away, but the cops always catch their man. They ended up apprehending and arresting Patil.

From there, let's cue the villain explains all portion of our crime procedural. During interrogation, Patil allegedly explained to investigators why he would do such a thing. He said that he felt betrayed that his niece decided to marry the groom. What's worse is that she eloped. Apparently, they had a marriage/wedding ceremony later for the family.

"He told us that he did not eat for eight days after she eloped. Therefore he mixed the poison in the food so that everyone would stay hungry," assistant police inspector Sachin Bombale said, according to TOI

So who do we have to thank for saving the day? Well, a waiter at the wedding caught him putting something in the food. The waiter alerted the family, who then alerted the police.

Fortunately, no one consumed the poisoned food. So there is a bit of a silver lining there to this story.
