According to WTNH, police arrived at an apartment complex on Meloy Road at around 9 p.m. They had received calls reporting screens and yelling coming from one of the units. Once police entered the apartment, they found both Miller and the toddler dead, reportedly stabbed to death.

While they received the initial calls reporting the yelling, they also received reports of a man who had jumped through a window. Said man, Fletcher, was found on the walkway by police. He was transported to a local hospital to receive treatment and was released on Tuesday.

Jevon Tyrese Fletcher was charged with two counts of murder, two counts of murder with special circumstances, and one count of risk of injury, according to the New Haven Registry. He is currently being held in lieu of a $3 million bond. Fletcher's next court date has been set for March 13, according to PEOPLE.

Tragic Incident

According to West Having Police Sgt. Scott Allard, police believe that Fletcher and Miller were dating and that the toddler was Fletcher's son. Moreover, Miller was a mother of a son who was not present at the apartment when the incident took place.

Neighbors were left in shock after learning about the alleged violent murders that happened in the apartment complex. "The fact that this happened right next to our apartment is terrifying," neighbor Moss Hanley said, according to WTNH. "The fact that it was a woman and child, it's honestly sickening to me," neighbor Ben Hanley added.

The incident has shaken the West Haven community as well, with West Haven Mayor Dorinda Borer issuing a statement, addressing it.

"To have a woman and young baby taken so violently is a horrible tragedy, incredibly sad, and just plain evil. Our hearts as a community are with the family and friends who are in mourning," Borer said. "If you're in a tight complex like that and you hear screaming, or you hear things that don't make sense, call the police because your call can save a life."

A GoFundMe campaign was set up to cover funeral expenses and provide support for her surviving son.

"Hailey, a hard-working mother, always looking to further her education/career. She was dedicated to giving her son the best life possible. A life filled with love and care," the GoFundMe reads. "Hailey's bright spirit, kindness, and unwavering love for her child touched everyone who knew her."
