Mama June appeared on Page Six's Virtual Reali-Tea podcast. During the episode, she opened up about a health scare that led to a major surgery. Last April, she had a hysterectomy to remove her uterus.

"I had a total hysterectomy unexpectedly last year — last April. It was not expected," June said. "It was a scare for me because I did have some fibroid cysts that went to separated cysts, and we had a little scare."

She said that the experience made her thing of her late daughter. Cardwell died on December 9, 2023 from Stage 4 adrenal carcinoma. "Me, in my mind, going what Anna went through, I was worried it was going to be ovarian cancer," Mama June said.

Mama June Has Had a Rough Few Years

It's not the first time that Mama June has suffered health problems. In 2018, she went completely blind in her right eye due to cataracts. She ended up needing four surgeries to save the vision that she has in her left eye.

"It's been physically and emotionally draining," she added at the time. "Losing my independence and having to rely on other people for everything has been crazy."

In 2022, she also ended up hospitalized due to headaches and dizziness. June said, "Some days are a struggle for me, but it's nothing like the 'C' word but like I tell people, we know it's not gonna ever kill me, but it could immobilize me."

Behind the scenes, Mama June says that she has had a tough time dealing with her daughter's death as well. She chose to grieve privately. "Just 'cause I'm not on here boo-hooing doesn't mean I don't have bad days," Shannon said. "Don't mean I'm not a f----- emotional wreck half the d--n time."

"It has been a rough time," Shannon also said. "Losing a child has been one of the hardest things that I've ever went through, ever in my whole, entire f------ life, even outside of drug addiction."
