The wife of a pastor in Angola has been charged with orchestrating the murder of her husband while engaged in an affair with a family bodyguard. Jackie Shroyer, 44, is accused of paying $50,000 to three men to kill her husband, Beau Shroyer. The murder occurred in October 2023, just days after Beau's death. He had been lured into a remote area by the men and stabbed to death, authorities reported, via The Daily Mail.

Beau Shroyer, 44, had a varied career before his death. He started as a police officer with the Detroit Lakes Police Department in 2013. Later, he transitioned into real estate before becoming a pastor. In 2021, he and Jackie, along with their five children, moved to Angola to become missionaries. They were among the first families to resettle there after pandemic restrictions eased.
Jackie is accused of having an affair with 24-year-old Bernardino Elias, one of the men hired to carry out the murder. Elias worked as a bodyguard for the family. Police allege that Jackie paid Elias and two others, Isalino Kayoo, 23, and Gelson Ramos, 22, to kill Beau. Two suspects, Elias and Kayoo, have been arrested. Ramos remains at large.
Pastor Reportedly Lured to Remote Location
The murder shocked the community, especially at the Lakes Area Vineyard Church in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, where Beau had served as pastor. Lead pastor Troy Easton expressed his sorrow over the development, saying it "saddens me immensely."
The Shroyers' children will continue to receive care from relatives, supported by SIM USA, the missionary organization with which Beau worked, as well as the church.
Initially, when news of Beau's death broke, his church described it as a "violent, criminal attack." Police later revealed that the men had lured Beau to the remote location by claiming issues with a rented car. Detectives also recovered an American-made knife at the scene, which had been a gift to Elias.
The case has drawn significant attention due to the shocking betrayal and the complex web of motives surrounding the tragedy. Jackie Shroyer is set to stand trial within the next six months.
