Maddie & Tae, who achieved significant success as a country duo for 15 years, recently announced that they were parting ways. The decision stemmed from Maddie wanting to try her hand at a solo career, while Tae hoped to invest more time as a stay-at-home parent.

Even though the duo announced their split earlier in December, many fans are still slightly confused. The main reason is that Maddie & Tae have 10 tour dates lined up for 2026, despite claiming that "it doesn't feel aligned for us to do [music] together" anymore.

Facebook post including a link to their new tour dates, the comment section is littered with confused fans. "I thought you guys broke up," shares one. "So you're not splitting up?" asks another. "Wait, does this mean y'all are still making/performing music together? I'm confused, as I thought y'all split as a duo," said one fan, asking what everyone seems to be thinking.What's more, not only are they planning to tour in 2026, but they also have dates lined up through mid-June. In their December interview with People, they explained their reasoning behind all of this for those who might be confused.
The End of an Era, Not the End of a Lifelong Friendship
As it turns out, Maddie & Tae had already announced the 2026 dates before announcing their split. Plus, they have some "special surprises" in store for fans for their last few shows as a duo. However, that doesn't necessarily mean they won't play together ever again. "We're leaving this so open-ended because, you know, we might make another record one day," Maddie explained. "We might go do some tour dates one day."
Maddie Font and Tae Kerr first made waves when they released "Girl In A Country Song" back in 2014. Since then, they've been consistent faces in the country music space, at least until now. However, the girls want fans to know that "bad blood" has nothing to do with the change; they still plan to be part of each other's lives.
"Even though we're not gonna go on this journey as Maddie & Tae together, we're still walking and doing life together outside of it," Font explained to People. "And I think I'm really excited to just be best friends and nurture our friendship and not have to worry as much about the work and still get to raise our babies together. None of that changes."
Maddie also explained that, even though they know this announcement doesn't come without disappointment, she wants fans to feel the love, even as this chapter comes to a close.
"I just want to make sure that our fans know how much we love them and how grateful we are for them," says Font. "We have kept doing this for so long because of them. They have been the gasoline in our tank."
