Maddie & Tae Reveal Struggle with Depression After Losing Record Deal

For the first time, Maddie and Tae are discussing how they reacted when their record label suddenly shut down last year.

Many predicted 2017 to be a big year for the pair, who were still riding high off the release of their debut record Start Here. The country duo were previously signed to Dot Records and were working on their sophomore album when the label was dissolved in early 2017. That left Maddie & Tae unsure if they'd ever get another record deal.

In a new video shared to the duo's YouTube channel, Maddie and Tae talk about how this sudden change in their career affected them personally.

"If I'm being honest, I went through a really, pretty tough depression after the label thing happened," Maddie Marlow tells fans in the video above. "I kind of always was the person that had a plan, had it figured out, and I never kind of been like dropped on my ass before."

Although the pair went through a trying time of uncertainty, they were soon signed by Universal Music Group Nashville. Patient fans can look forward to a new album finally dropping sometime in 2018.
