After being booted off Sheeran's "The Loop" tour earlier this month, Macklemore is already getting ready to hit the road again. On Thursday (September 24), Macklemore announced he was going back on tour. But on this tour, he won't be an opening act; he'll be a headliner.
Macklemore Set to Kick Off 'Free Palestine' Tour
Macklemore's "Free Palestine" currently consists of three dates. Dublin, Ireland on October 26, Paris, France on October 29, and London, England on October 30.
Macklemore made comments in support of Palestine. When the tour hit New Jersey's MetLife Stadium earlier this month. In the aftermath of his comments, several people were outraged and accused him of being biased toward the Palestinian people amid their war with Gaza. On Monday (September 14), Macklemore was dropped from the remaining tour dates.
Following the announcement, Sheeran doubled down on his stance and stood behind his decision. He noted that he refused to be intimidated or silenced by "the power of billionaires."
"If these last couple of weeks have shown us anything, it's that something has shifted over the last three years. There has been a collective awakening around Palestinian liberation, the power of billionaires that try to censor that call, and what we expect from artists right now," he said in a statement
