Lynyrd Skynyrd and Brantley Gilbert Team up for 'CMT Crossroads'

Lynyrd Skynyrd and Brantley Gilbert, two artists on the edge of country, are coming together for CMT.

Southern rock legends Lynyrd Skynyrd are teaming up with edgy country newcomer Brantley Gilbert for the latest episode of "CMT Crossroads."

Since his debut on the charts in 2009, Gilbert has been making a name for himself as an artist who isn't afraid to push the boundaries of country music. It's only fitting that CMT chose to pair him up with one of the most legendary bands that's constantly crossed the rock and country genres without any apologies.

Skynyrd has had a long and extraordinary career that's spanned over forty years and has supplied classic songs like "Sweet Home Alabama" and "Free Bird." Their appearance on "Crossroads" comes before their summer release of Lynyrd Skynyrd: One More for the Fans, which features many special guests on new recordings of their classic hits.

Gilbert's signature, rock-edged sound has gained him a big following in a short time. His most recent album, Just As I Am, was one of the top five country albums of 2014. This will be Gilbert's first time on the CMT series, while Lynyrd Skynyrd originally appeared with Montgomery Gentry for an episode in 2004.

Lynyrd Skynyrd and Brantley Gilbert's episode of "CMT Crossroads" premieres on June 27 at 10PM ET.
