Luke Combs Reveals The Real Reason He Refuses To Live Like A Celebrity

Luke Combs can, quite literally, afford almost anything he wants. But the 35-year-old still lives a very modest life, insisting that the same person he is on stage, is the same one he is when he is away from the spotlight.

"I don't operate, really ... I feel like it's whatever the public version of me is, because it's not really any different than who I just am anyways," Combs tells Audacy. "Whatever the persona is, it's just who I am, so it's easy to just be myself, and that's what I always wanted."

Combs is so much not into being a celebrity, that he and his wife Nicole still live in a 2000 square foot, two bedroom home. They also refuse to hire a nanny, and are already making their two young sons pick up their own toys.

"I didn't want to have to pretend to be anything that I'm not when I'm doing interviews or at home, or around people I don't know. Or at the grocery store, or whatever," Combs explains. "I live an oddly normal life to be honest. I feel like, and that's the way I wanted it to be."

Luke Combs Refuses To Splurge On Many Items

Combs is still living a frugal lifestyle, in spite of his worldwide fame. In fact, the North Carolina native says it's rare he even buys something for himself, unless he really, really needs it.

"I could have the newest and nicest of everything but I just don't," Combs tells Taste of Country.

"There's not a lot of new underwear in my drawer, you know what I mean?" he adds. "I mean, I have a lot of nice things that I'm very, very thankful for. But, I'll get the most use out of what I do have."

Combs likes to live well below his means. But he also likes to save time, which is why he prefers to keep things as long as possible.

"It's more work to get something new and to figure out how to do it and do the new version of it," Combs explains.

Combs has a new single, "Back In The Saddle." The song, from his next album, debuted in the Top 25.
