Luke Bryan Shares Whether His Kids Will Follow in His Musical Footsteps

Luke Bryan wants his kids to follow their own path.

Luke Bryan's sons are growing up fast. His eldest, Bo, is now 15 and well on his way to getting his driver's license, while Tate recently turned 13. The two boys have some time to decide which career path they'd like to pursue, and Bryan isn't sure that they will follow his footsteps as a musicians.

In an exclusive interview with People, the country star says his boys haven't expressed interest in music yet, but he will be happy to share his knowledge if that day comes.

"Bo and Tate, they're not really into [music] right now, but when they come to me and they're like, 'Dad, I really want to learn some music,' I'll take the time to sit down with them and have fun," he tells the publication. "But for the most part I just want them to be their own identity. I want them to have their own differences and their own little paths and I don't want them to be in some monstrous shadow of me."

When it comes to parenting two boys, Bryan says he and wife Caroline have focused less on pushing a certain career path and more on teaching them good manners and morals.

"The main thing is just, we tried to raise [them with] respectful, gentlemanly manners and we feel like they're all of that," he says. "So when we get complimented on their manners and their politeness, we're really proud about that."

According to Bryan, his sons have become more aware of his country music superstardom as they've gotten older, and they have even Googled their dad to get an idea of his reach. However, when it comes to their day-to-day life, Bo and Tate don't think much about their father being famous.

"They don't know any different," he says. "When I get home, they don't care. They don't care if I've sold out 10 shows or whatever. They just want to go hang with Dad and do boy and father-son dad stuff. And it's special when we can all do it together."

Bryan is currently performing on his Country On Tour throughout the summer.
