Country star Luke Bryan will be joining pop singer Katy Perry as the second celebrity judge on the new season of American Idol this Fall.
Variety confirmed yesterday that Luke Bryan has officially signed on to be the second judge on the 16th season of American Idol. This will be the first season that the show airs on ABC instead of Fox.
Bryan will undoubtedly add some country flavor to the show which launched the careers of country superstar Carrie Underwood as well as Scotty McCreery.
The third judge on the panel has not yet been selected. Lionel Ritchie had been rumored to be in talks with producers, but according to Variety he is no longer considering the gig. Ryan Seacrest will be returning as the host of the show this season.
Bryan recently dropped a new single, "Light It Up," in anticipation of the release of his upcoming album.
