Luke Bryan could be the next country star to follow in Blake Shelton's footsteps by heading to Hollywood.
The country superstar is reportedly on the shortlist of artists being considered to become celebrity judges on ABC's upcoming reboot of American Idol. Katy Perry is the only celebrity who has officially signed on so far. But courting a country singer like Bryan makes a lot of sense. He's a family-friendly personality with plenty of charisma. He also has a very dedicated fanbase who are guaranteed to tune in each week.
So far, this new version of American Idol has drawn a lot of mixed reactions. Many say it's way too soon to bring back a reality show that only stopped airing in 2016. With criticism already in the air, ABC will likely try and snag as many big names as possible to keep people interested.

The original American Idol spawned the careers of Carrie Underwood, Scotty McCreery and Kellie Pickler. Will this new version produce country's next big thing? Only time will tell. The show may premiere on ABC as early as March 2018.
